CONSTANT INSPIRATION AS DRIVEOverall, even when I feel like I'm struggling with myself, it's other people who give me inspiration. Like when people reach out to me with critique/gratitude or stories. I'm motivated to always keep pushing (even when I should probably be doing homework instead) because of my readers. They make me love what I do.

The Seattle Times Legislative InternExperiential Learning Project // January, 2016Working at The Seattle Times as a legislative reporter was both nothing like what I expected and also more than I could've imagined. I had expected to be running around like a chicken with my head cut off, turning around stories on a daily basis. I expected constant requests and communication. I expected to cover homelessness much more than I did. None of these expectations were fulfilled. Instead, I was turning in stories typically every three days, lacking a lot of communications, and ending up with only two homelessness pieces.

Growth & Experimentation at South SEattle EmeraldExperiential Learning Project // June 20, 2016When it comes to expressing the importance and value this internship had for me, I really don't know how to put it into words. But let this reflection be an attempt to do so - although I still find it inadequate. Community journalism is perhaps one of the most tangible pieces of impact there is, and the reciprocal relationships that come out of it are beyond words. Beyond words.
